Quiet, residential and refined - Bangkok's most liveable Sukhumvit address.
Ekkamai sits one BTS stop east of Thonglor and trades a little of the buzz for noticeably more calm. Long-term expats, families and design-minded locals choose Ekkamai for its green inner sois, independent coffee culture and easy commute back into central Sukhumvit.
Ekkamai feels lived-in. The crowd skews towards long-term residents - couples, families, designers, founders - who want a real neighbourhood rather than a nightlife strip. Weekends revolve around brunch at Audrey, slow coffee at Casa Lapin and walks through the Park Lane and Gateway Ekamai courtyards.
Independent coffee defines Ekkamai: Roast, Roots, Brave Roasters and dozens of micro-roasters fill the inner sois. For dinner, expect modern Thai (Gaa-alumni concepts), Japanese izakaya and a steady rotation of new chef-driven openings.
BTS Ekkamai puts you 8 minutes from Asok and 15 minutes from Siam. The Eastern Bus Terminal and the Expressway are both at the BTS exit, making weekend trips to Pattaya or the airport straightforward.
Bangkok Prep's main campus is in Ekkamai, with shuttle access to other internationals nearby. The wider sois (Ekamai 10, 12, 22) are quiet enough for kids and dogs while still being a five-minute drive from Thonglor's amenities.
Buildings such as Noble Reveal, Rhythm Ekkamai, The Line Sukhumvit 71 and Ceil by Sansiri define the upper segment. Floor plates tend to be more generous than in Thonglor, and pricing per square metre is often slightly more attractive for the same quality of finish.
If Thonglor is the front of the magazine, Ekkamai is the long-form feature. Tenants who have lived in Bangkok for a while frequently move from Thonglor to Ekkamai for the quieter sois, more space and a slightly slower rhythm - without giving up any of the connectivity.
